Quantum Spin Dynamics Laboratory

We are a condensed-matter theory group in the Department of Physics at KAIST with a particular focus on quantum spin dynamics. We study fundamental physics of magnetism and superconductivity as well as their technological applications in practical fields such as spintronics and neuromorphic computing. Many of our research involve topological phenomena including the dynamics of topological solitons and the identification of novel topological phases. Here are a few keywords describing our research topics

Research Interest

  • Spintronics/magnonics/skyrmionics in ordered quanum materials such as ferromagnets and superconductors

  • Quantum magnetism

  • Spin superfluids and magnon Bose-Einstein Condensation (BEC)

  • Two-dimensional quantum materials

  • Charge/spin/heat transport in superfluids and superconductors

  • Dynamics of topological magnetic solitons such as domain walls and skyrmions

  • Dynamics of topological superconducting solitons such as vortices

  • Topological phases such as topological insulators and topological superconductivity
