“Possible symmetry in the phase diagrams of electron- & hole-doped cuprate high-Tc superconductors

Dongjoon Song , AIST

Dec. 12th (Mon), 1:30p.m. #1323(E6-2. 1st fl.)

Since the high temperature (high-Tc) superconductivity was discovered in the doped copper oxide materials, namely cuprates, determination of the exact phase diagram has been a fundamentally important issue because the phase diagram bares the information on the clues to the high-Tc mechanism. Variety of studies has established asymmetric phase diagrams between the electron- and hole-doped systems, and thus the disparity has been believed as the essential feature of cuprate high-Tc superconductor. However, although the carrier (electron) density should be influenced by oxygen non-stoichiometry resulting in deviation between nominal and actual doping level, it has not been considered in building the phase diagram of electron-doped cuprates so far. In this talk, I will present a phase diagram of electron-doped cuprate Pr1-xLaCexCuO4 as a function of electron number and raise a possibility for the absence of disparity between the phase diagrams of electron- and hole-doped cuprates.
