Preparation of Doucments for Readmission for the Fall Semester, 2024
▢ Acceptance of application ㅇ To be accepted by mail or in person ※ Application documents must arrive by June 14, 2024. ㅇ Address : Department of Physics Office, KAIST, 291, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, 34141 ▢ Signature of advisor/department head ㅇ Applicants must submit the application (application form 1) to the department office after receiving the signatures of the advisor and the department head. ▢ Advisor’s Opinion ㅇ Applicants should contact the advisor, and have a face-to-face or non-face-to-face interview with him/her. ㅇ The Advisor’s Opinion (application form 3) should be prepared by the advisor and submitted to the department office directly. ▢ Application for Department Transfer ㅇ Complete the application form 5 including the signature of applicant and guarantor. ㅇ Applicants should have an interview with both the current and prospective advisors. ㅇ The application form should be submitted to the respective department offices after obtaining the signatures of the advisors and department heads of both the current department and prosepective department the applicant is applying to. ▢ Method of Review by Department/Division: face-to face or non-face-to-face interview ▢ Method of Review by Dean of Student Affairs & Policy (applicable toundergraduate students only): face-to face or non-face-to-face interview ※ Each applicant would receive information of the interview by e-mail from the Office of Academic Affairs. |
A. Eligibility: Dropouts and expelled students of undergraduate and graduate programs
B. Deadlines ※ Be punctual. Documents not submitted by the deadline will never be accepted.
1) Submission by Students : Submit to the department/division office by June 14 (Fri.), 2024.
2) Evalution by Departments/divsions : June 15 (Sat.) ~ June 28 (Fri.), 2024.
3) Submission of Departments/divisions evaluation result to Academic Registrar's Team: June 28 (Fri.), 2024.
C. Conditions for readmission
1) Students who belong to the following categories are not eligible for readmission.
- (Up to students enrolled in 2008) Those who are expelled for exceeding enrollment duration limit.
- (Starting from students enrolled in 2009) Those who are expelled for exceeding enrollment duration limit or who are expelled or voluntarily withdraw after getting enrollment duration limit extended.
2) Readmission is possible after 2 semesters including the semester in which dropping out or expulsion occurred.
D. Readmission application and review procedures
※ If you are not recommended for readmission or fail to attend in the previous
deliberation process, the deliberation will be terminated and re-deliberation will not
be possible.
※ Readmission with changing of major (↓)
E. Recommendation for readmission by department/division
1) The candidate is evaluated on academic capacity, remaining number of semesters, and possibility of graduation based on the advisor's opinion on readmission and future study plan by a three-member review committee consisting of the advisor, department/division head, and department/division rofessor or a department/division
-related committee. (In case of need, a department may interview an applicant.)
2) For undergraduate students, the Dean of Student Affairs and Policy will interview the recommended candidate and results will be announcedthrough the Academic and Research Review Committee.
F. Required documents for readmission
1) Application for readmission (application form 1) - submitted by applicant
2) Future study Plan (application form 2) - submitted by applicant
3) Opinion of advisor on readmission (application form 3) - submitted by applicant
4) Recommendation for readmission (application form 4) - submitted by department
5) Academic transcript - submitted by applicant
6) Application for department transfer (application form 5) - submitted by
applicant (Change a major)
7) Declaration of major(undergraduate) (application form 6) - submitted by
applicant (Declare a major)
※ Students applying for readmission to a different department shall prepare two copies each, and submit to both the current and new departments.
G. Other matters concerning readmission
1) Previously earned credits shall be automatically recognized without any separate procedures.
2) Graduation requirements for readmitted students shall be the same as requirements applied in the initial year of admission.
3) The prescribed years of study shall be counted from the date of initial admission.
4) Students readmitted after expulsion due to accumulated academic warnings will be expelled upon receiving an academic warning.
5) Students expelled for failing the qualifying exam must pass the exam within one year of readmission, and will face expulsion if requirements are not met.
This period may be extended by up to one semester if a leave of absence is taken.
6) Students can be readmitted only once, and will only be accepted to the original academic year or lower.
7) Tuition for readmitted students shall be governed by Rules on Collection of Student Payments.
