Distinguished Lecture 'The Magic of Moiré Quantum Matter'
 
KAIX와 물리학과는 MIT, Pablo Jarillo-Herrero교수의 Distinguished Lecture를 아래와 같이 개최합니다.
Jarillo-Herrero교수는 고체물리, 양자수송 분야의 세계적 석학으로, 2018년 매직 각도로 틀어진 그래핀 이중층(Magic angle twisted bilayer graphene)에서 초전도 현상을 최초로 발견하였습니다. 해당 연구는 전자간 상호작용이 큰 무아레(Moiré) 양자 시스템이라는 새로운 물질 플랫폼의 제시로 이어졌습니다.
무아레 양자 시스템은 강상관 부도체, 초전도, 강자성, 위상적 특성을 띄는 천(Chern) 부도체 등의 다양한 양자 상태를 발현함으로써, 고체물리학 및 재료과학에서 매우 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있습니다.
본 강연에서는 무아레 양자 시스템의 최초 발견 및 그 이후 발전 과정에 대해 자세히 살펴보고, 앞으로의 연구 방향에 대해 논의하고자 합니다.
 
강연자는 Zoom으로 연결되며, 자연과학동 1501호(공동강의실)에서 함께 모여 강연을 들을 예정으로, 색다른 즐거움이 있을 것으로 기대합니다.
