신입생(석.박사통합과정 및 박사과정) - 자격시험 등 안내 (notice of the qualitying exam. for New Students (MS-PhD Integrated and Doctoral Course)
물리학과석.박사 통합과정 및 박사과정으로 입학하시는 신입생 분들은 아래 사항을 반드시 숙지하시기 바랍니다.
1. 자격시험 안내 :
물리학과 대학원에서는 자격시험을 실시하여 이 시험에 통과한 학생들에게만 박사과정에 진학할 자격을 주고 있습니다. 매 학기 시행 하던 필기 자격시험을 2012년 입학생부터 연1회 (2월말 혹은 3월초) 시행하며, 고전역학, 전자기학, 양자역학, 통계물리의 학부과정 심화 수준에서 출제됩니다. 이 시험은 대학원에서 위 과목들을 고급 수준으로 공부한 후 응시하면 더 유리할 수 있지만, 너무 늦추면 이 시험에 통과하기 전까지는 지도교수와 연구실이 배정이 되어도 연구에 몰두할 수 없다는 단점이 있습니다. (물리학과에서는 대학원 첫 학기가 끝난 후 지도교수 결정을 합니다.) 그러므로 자신이 있는 학생들은 지금부터 천천히 준비를 시작하여 매년 신학기 초에 시행되는 자격시험에 응시하기를 적극 권장하는 바입니다.

New students admitted to the MS-PhD integrated course or doctoral course are to take note of the following.
1. Entrance Exam: (Qualiting Exam.)
Students are required to pass an entrance exam to qualify as PhD candidates for the graduate school of the Department of Physics. The written exam will be conducted once a year (late February or early March) from 2012 onwards, and covers advanced undergraduate-level topics such as classical mechanics, electromagnetics, quantum mechanics, and statistical physics. Students may be better prepared by studying the above topics at graduate level, but delaying the exam may leave little time for research. (Advisors will be assigned at the end of the first semester in graduate school.) Students are strongly encouraged to prepare and sit for the exam early next year.
