  • Colossal magnetoresistance(CMR)
The resistivity of CMR materials changes 99.999% in external magenetic field. Considering the fact that the anisotropic MR materials, whose resistivity changes only 2%, is used commercially as the reading head of magnetic hard disks, the applicaton potential of CMR materials is enormous. In addition to this application potential, basic research on its mechanism is of great interest, and therefore, this is one of the hottest topic of solid state physis rsearch in 1990s. Various CMR materials are designed, synthesized, and tested in this lab.
  • Quantum Computing
The basic concept of quantim computing was first suggested about 15 years ago by Feynman and others. Since the fiest implementation of quantim computing by NMR in 1997, researcg interest in this field is increasing exponentially. We develope quantim computing algorithms which habe been impossible to be calculated in classical coputers and implement by NMR
  • Magnetic Resonace Force Microscopy (MRFM)
MRFM is a device whee resonance technique is added to MFM to detect a single spin dynamics ecentually. this is feasible because frequency measurement technique, which we can measure most accurately among various physical quantaties, is applied. One of the promising application of this device is the thin film NMR which is impossible at room temperature so far.
  • MRI microscopy
One of the best application field of the non destructive imaging capability of MRI is microscopy. Various kinds of microscopy have been invented, but the metabolism of cells can be tudied only by nonivasive techniques. The biggest obstacle in the development of MRI microscopy is the signal to noise(SNR)ratio decreasing with use various physics knowledges, sush as high Tc superconductors, optical pumping, to get orders of magnitude higher SNR and challenge the best resolution in the world.
